Firefighting facility to save on costs

Training can now be offered on Island

A new on-Island training facility for firefighters will cut government costs and provide vital training 'in-house',  according to Home Affairs minister Bill Malarkey.

The complex, unveiled yesterday (28 Nov), cost £600,000 and can simulate a range of different environments in which firefighters can train.

Previously, the Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service sent their crews to the UK for training, leaving the service under-staffed.
