Fire services called to Union Mills

Crews in breathing apparatus on site

Crews from Douglas fire station were called out yesterday (Tues) afternoon after reports of smoke coming from a property in Union Mills.

The alarm had been raised around 2.20pm and a team wearing breathing apparatus entered the premises and discovered the smoke was coming from a dishwasher in the kitchen of the building.

The small fire was extinguished and the applicance isolated from the mains before the area was checked using thermal imaging cameras.

No one was hurt and there was only minor smoke logging.

Crews spent around half an hour at the scene.
