Fire services called to Ronaldsway Aircraft Company

Firemen from Castletown were faced with a challenge at Ronaldsway Aircraft Company this afternoon (Thurs)

They were called out around 1.15pm after a fire had been reported on a bench used for manufacturing titanium components.

On arrival they found the blaze had been extinguished by a member of staff at the factory, but the building had rapidly filled with smoke. Due its size and shape, clearing the fumes had to be done in sections using two additional heavy-duty electric fans alongside the crew's own positive ventilation fan.

The work took around an hour.

No-one was hurt in the incident and fire services have praised the evacuation procedures of Ronaldsway Aircraft company and the work of their maintenance crew in ensuring the incident had a safe outcome.
