Fire service slams 'malicious actions' following Castletown fire

Organisation warns against incidents which 'needlessly tie up resources'

The Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service is warning against 'malicious actions' which 'needlessly' tie up resources after responding to an incident in Castletown this week.

Crews from Castletown and Malew were dispatched at 7pm on Friday (20 September) to reports of a small outside fire in a field adjacent to Arbory Road.

On arrival it was discovered a number of books and magazines had been set alight and also received information that three males had been seen running from the area.

The service says along with occupying resources, incidents like these 'inevitably lead to damage to people's property and can quickly spread out of control.'

Furthermore, officers add they will gather all necessary information in such cases and work with the Isle of Man Constabulary to support any potential investigations.
