Fire crews called out to rally car blaze
Rescue crews were called out to the Old Castletown Road yesterday evening to a vehicle fire during the Pokerstars Rally.
At around 7:30pm, crew from Castletown and Malew Fire and Ambulance station attended to the car that had left the road and landed in a field at the end of the Keristal stage, prior to the Blackboards.
Both driver and passenger had been able to get out of the car before the fire took hold and were treated at the scene by members of Hogg Rescue.
Crews used high pressure hose reels and breathing apparatus to extinguish the blaze.
