Fire crews are reminding the public that vegetation on the Island remains very dry after a controlled burn became out of control in the west.

Firefighters were called out in Peel yesterday after a controlled burn of grass spread.

The Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service says land is still very dry despite some recent showers, and fires can spread quickly.

Anyone planning a controlled burn is reminded to control the Emergency Services Joint Control Room beforehand, keep the fire supervised and have a means of extinguishing the fire.
