Crews tackling blaze in waste pit
Emergency services have been fighting a blaze in a waste pit at the Island's Energy from Waste Plant.
Two fire appliances from Douglas are in attendance and crews are reported to have the incident under control.
However due to the large amount of smoke being generated by the fire drivers are being asked to avoid the area.
Crews expect to remain on site to ensure the fire is fully extinguished and further checks will be made to confirm no re-ignition.
Access to the plant, which is operated by Suez Isle of Man, is currently suspended but the plant expects to be open on Monday to receive waste.
