Faulty shredder identified as the cause
A fire at a commercial property in St John's yesterday morning was tackled by crews from Douglas and Peel fire stations.
The owner of the building had been notified by a monitoring centre that its fire alarms had activated.
He went to check, and found it was full of smoke.
Fire officers went in, and found a faulty paper shredder was the source of the problem.
They were at the scene for around 50 minutes, as they removed the shredder and ventilated the building.
