20-year-old pleads guilty to offence
A young driver from Douglas who broke the speed limit imposed by his R-plates has appeared in court after failing to pay a fixed penalty notice.
Twenty-year-old Declan Owen Coney, of Palatine Road, pleaded guilty to the offence before magistrates at Douglas courthouse.
Police followed Coney over the Mountain Road after spotting his Ford Fiesta overtaking cars near Windy Corner – they clocked him doing 70mph and issued the fine, which went unpaid.
He was fined £200 by magistrates, who also ordered him to pay £50 prosecution costs and keep his R-plates on for an extra six months.
They also put three points on his driving licence.
