Fine for motorist caught recording voice note

35-year-old's tax was also out of date

An Onchan woman has been fined £760 after being caught sending a voice note whilst driving.

Cristina Gaidos, of Howe Road, was stopped by police on Main Road just before 9am on 4 March.

The 35-year-old produced a European driving licence, despite having lived on the Island for 15 years, and her car tax was out of date.

At Douglas Courthouse Gaidos admitted having no driving licence, no vehicle licence and using her phone behind the wheel.

Her advocate told the court: “She was recording a voice note. We fully accept the law is there for a reason. Miss Gaidos accepts she shouldn’t have been doing that.”

Magistrates also ordered her to pay £50 in costs telling her: “You should have changed it (the licence) many years ago.”

Her driving licence was also endorsed with four penalty points.
