DESC commits to additional support for 12 months

Operational costs of regional swimming pools will be underwritten by the Manx Government for the next 12 months.

The Department of Education, Sport and Culture says it secures the 'short-term future' of the facilities.

It's also been confirmed an external body will conduct a review of all swimming pool provision on the Island.

The future of community pools in Castletown, Peel and Ramsey had been uncertain as energy costs continue to rise.

Staff at the Southern Swimming Pool in Castletown were warned earlier this month they could face redundancy.
