Father's campaign for safer drug use

Pragmatic approach aims to save lives

A father from Port St Mary who lost his two sons in a drugs tragedy says he's convinced legalising and regulating drugs would save lives.

Jacques and Torin Lakeman died two years ago this month, after taking ecstasy they had bought on the dark web. 

Their father Ray believes the boys would be alive today if they had been able to buy the drug legally, aware of its strength.

Recent reports put the number of deaths linked to ecstasy at a 10 year high, with the drug up to three times stronger today than in the 1990s.

Ray Lakeman says providing a safer environment for users is a practical way to prevent more tragic deaths.

He's asking anyone uneasy at the prospect, to consider the options.
