Wet and stormy weather threatens lives of lambs

Some Manx farmers are considering changing when they lamb in order to cope with changing weather patterns.

Recent heavy rain has made the process incredibly difficult for those working in the sector; March was the fourth wettest on record.

Storm Kathleen over the weekend also brought gale force winds hampering access to land and threatening the lives of newborn lambs.

One Manx farmer took to social media exclaiming that his lambing shed was starting to resemble a ‘refugee camp’.

He said his pens were overflowing adding: "I’d say this year’s lambing is anything but the nice pretty idea most people have in their heads.”

Farmer, and Manx Radio Countryside presenter, Kirree Kermode says it’s a real challenge.
