Family Action takes over children's care services on Island

St Christopher's opted not to retender contract after over 20 years' service

Children's care services on the Isle of Man will now be overseen by charity Family Action.

It's after previous provider St Christopher's opted not to retender for the contract.

In a joint statement, Family Action and Manx Care said: "Manx Care can confirm the contract for Children's Residential Care, Wraparound and Leaving and After Care services was awarded to Family Action following a robust tender process last autumn and took effect from 1 July 2026, in line with Manx Care's Financial Regulations.

"The priority throughout the transition has been to ensure continuity of care and support for children and young people.

"Appropriate staffing arrangements have been maintained to support continued service delivery, ensuring children, young people and families continue to receive the support they need."

They added: "Family Action is pleased to have begun delivering these services on the Isle of Man, bringing together residential care, therapeutic support, and leaving and aftercare provision with a focus on providing safe, consistent and compassionate support.

"Family Action is grateful to the colleagues who have joined the organisation as part of the transition, whose local knowledge, skills and experience will be central to continuing and strengthening services.

"Manx Care has the utmost confidence that the service will continue to meet the required standards of care and safeguarding under Family Action's leadership.

"Family Action will continue to work closely with Manx Care and other partners to support positive outcomes for children, young people and families across the Island."
