DESC Minister claims decision was made as soon as possible
The education minister says the decision to allow schools to break up a day earlier than planned for Christmas was made 'for everyone'.
Pupils will finish on Thursday, 22 December, rather than the day before Christmas Eve - as previously scheduled.
The Department of Education, Sport and Culture says it follows feedback from parents and will allow people travelling off-Island more time.
There's been kickback from some people - via social media - who say they'll struggle to find childcare or time off work.

Julie Edge says she made the decision as soon as possible:
Schools will return for the spring term as scheduled on Monday, 9 January.
The education department creates the school term schedule three years in advance.
