Island herd closely scrutinised
The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture has revealed the EU Commission has declared the Island tuberculosis-free.
It follows years of rigorous scrutiny surrounding the Island's cattle herd - the average cost of dealing with an outbreak on a farm is estimated at £34,000.
Prior to an outbreak in 2001, cows on the Island were TB-free for 30 years.
