33-year-old caught using his mobile phone whilst driving
Answering a call to an estate agent, whilst driving on the Mountain Road, has cost a 33-year-old £750.
Harry Edward Wint, of Central Promenade in Douglas, was spotted using his mobile phone near The Hairpin in Ramsey on 22 August.
Officers who stopped the 33-year-old also found he had no insurance for his VW Golf.
At Douglas Courthouse Wint admitted both offences.
His advocate told the court his client had ‘foolishly’ taken the 43 second call, on the way to view a property, adding: “It was a slip. He does wish to learn a lesson from this experience.”
Fining Wint, and ordering him to pay prosecution costs of £50, Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes referenced the duration of his call telling him: “It is a long time when one is driving on the mountain.”
Wint will also have eight penalty points added to his licence.
