Magistrates tell 36-year-old 'Drink in, sense out!'
An Essex man has been fined £900 after headbutting another man in a bar and then fleeing from police.
James Dennis Doe, of Hunting Gate in Colchester, pleaded guilty to displaying disorderly behaviour on licensed premises during an appearance at Douglas Courthouse.
The 36-year-old got into an argument in Bar Logo, in Ramsey, just after 9pm on 30 June.
The court heard it sparked a ‘mele’ and when police arrived Doe ran off; he climbed onto the roof of a neighbouring property to try and evade detection but was arrested shortly after.
Doe’s advocate told the court the groundworker was working on the Island at the time adding: “He is disgusted by his actions.”
Ordering Doe to pay prosecution costs of £125 Magistrates told him: “This was a particularly nasty offence,” adding: “Drink in, sense out!”.
