Environmental group calls for IoM to embrace green modes of transport
The Isle of Man is perfectly placed to adopt green modes of transport and embrace the electric car - that's according to Pete Christian, coordinator of Isle of Man Friends of the Earth.
He says the Island's size and scope for renewable energy makes it perfect for the vehicles, but warns government must encourage the transition sooner rather than later.
The UK has committed to banning the sale of all diesel and petrol vehicles by 2040, due to the impact of poor air quality on people's health.
Mr Christian told Manx Radio the Island has all the right tools to lead the way with electric vehicles:
