A Ramsey teenager has been banned from the road after being caught driving with cocaine in his system.

Ashton Marsh, of Fairway Drive, failed a drug wipe test after being stopped by police on 8 June.

A subsequent blood test showed he had a derivative of the Class A drug in his bloodstream and was 15mg over the legal limit.

The 18-year-old admitted the offence during an appearance at Douglas Courthouse.

His advocate told the court: "I don't think many individuals recognise that these drugs can stay in the system for up to four days."

Disqualifying Marsh for two years and fining him £750; Magistrates told him their 'hands were tied' when it came to the ban, but that they had 'made the fine 'as low as they could'.

Marsh will remain banned until he’s taken and passed an extended driving test – he’ll also have to pay £125 in prosecution costs.
