Driving ban and community service for fatal crash car owner

The owner of a car involved in a fatal collision has been banned from driving for nine months and given 180 hours-worth of community service.

Nineteen-year-old Andrew Reeday of Colby admitted letting a friend drive his vehicle on the Switchback Road, near Peel, in March when it was involved in an incident which resulted in the death of 14-year-old Onchan schoolgirl Lucia Porter.

Reeday admitted wasting police time and allowing someone to drive his car without insurance or a driving licence.

As well as being banned from driving, after which time he’ll have to re-take his test, Reeday will have to pay costs of £300.

Peel teenager Craig Bridgewater has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving and will go on trial next spring.
