Coroner James Brooks extends condolences to Kian Broadhead's family

Report from BBC Isle of Man.

The driver of a car that crashed on the western coast of the Isle of Man suffered fatal head injuries, an inquest has heard.

Kian Broadhead, 25, was pronounced dead at the scene after being found in the car below the Devil's Elbow, on the coast road between Peel and Kirk Michael, on 14 September.

The Isle of Man Constabulary previously confirmed that the emergency services had been called at about 5:25pm.

The court was told Mr Broadhead's vehicle was seen leaving his hometown of Peel at about midnight the night before.

The 25-year-old would have died "instantaneously or very shortly after impact" due to the injuries he sustained in the crash, the court heard.

A plumber by trade, Mr Broadhead was also a keen footballer who captained Peel Football Club's combination team.

The team previously paid tribute to the player following his death.

Extending his condolences to Mr Broadhead's family, Coroner James Brooks adjourned the inquest while investigations into the crash continued.
