Could be elevated from Legislative Council
The current clerk of the Legislative Council could be elevated to Clerk of Tynwald.
Dr Jonathan King has been nominated to take over from Roger Phillips who's been in the role since 2008.
Over the years Dr King has trained Manx civil servants and trainee advocates, in parliamentary law and practice, and has also taught the history of Tynwald at University College Isle of Man.
Before moving to the Island, in 2007, he worked as a civil servant in the UK serving in the Home Office, Cabinet Office and Ministry of Justice.
Speaker of the House of Keys Juan Watterson congratulated Dr King on the nomination following what he describes as a 'robust interview process against high quality off-Island applicants.'
His taking up of the role is subject to a vote later in the year.
On the nomination Dr King said: "It is a great honour to serve in Tynwald and a still greater honour to have been nominated for the post."
