Douglas MHK's motion hopes to see horse tram business case brought to Tynwald

Sarah Maltby wants reinstatement plans by April

An MHK is calling on the Department of Infrastructure to bring forward a capital funding request, implementation plan and business case to reinstate the horse trams along the full length of Douglas Promenade.

Douglas South MHK Sarah Maltby, who recently said she was 'frustrated' over the delays to the reinstatement project, wants to see the documents brought to April's Tynwald sitting.

In 2017, funding was approved to relay the tram track from Derby Castle to the Sea Terminal. However, the service was only reinstated as far as Broadway.

Full reinstatement has long been called for, and a recent video from historian Charles Guard, criticising the lack of progress, has sparked a fresh debate over the horse trams' future.

Mrs Maltby's motion will be put before Tynwald members next month.
