Douglas M&S thought safe from closure

Not one of 30 regional stores highlighted

Fears surrounding the Island's branch of Marks & Spencer appear to have calmed, after a list of stores most likely to close was revealed.

Bosses announced earlier this month that the high street chain would downsize or close 60 outlets over the next five years.

Research by think tank the Local Data Company has highlighted 30 regional stores thought to be at risk - and while large centres such as Liverpool, Manchester and Birmingham make the list, the Douglas branch is nowhere to be seen.

M&S is yet to confirm any of the findings.

LDC claims town centre locations are most likely to be affected, as shoppers increasingly favour retail parks with ample parking spaces.
