Drunk and disorderly charge dismissed

A Douglas man who was drunkenly swearing on a bus, swore at police officers and was carrying a knife, has had his sentencing adjourned for reports to be prepared.

Thirty-five-year-old David Samuel Anderson, of Belmont Terrace, has pleaded guilty to possessing a prohibited article - a lock knife - in a public place.

A charge of being drunk and disorderly has been dismissed, after the prosecution decided to offer no evidence.

Police were called to a bus stopped in Castletown Square at about 2pm on March 20, following reports of a very drunk man using abusive language on board.

Anderson by that stage was sprawled out on the back seat, asleep.

They found the knife on Anderson's belt, which at police interview he said he used for work and had taken with him to community service in Ramsey that day.

Anderson will appear for sentencing on September 20.
