Douglas man fined for using phone while driving

46-year-old also admitted not having valid insurance for the vehicle he was using

A Douglas man has been fined for using his phone to change his music while driving.

John Barlow of Castlemona Avenue was spotted holding his phone and tapping the screen by a police officer while driving on Governor's Road in Onchan on 9 January.

As well as pleading guilty to a charge of using a mobile phone while driving, he also admitted not having a valid insurance policy to use the vehicle he was driving.

Magistrates fined the 46-year-old a total of £900 and endorsed his driving licence with five penalty points, as well as ordering him to pay £50 in prosecution costs.
