Douglas man admits sexually abusing child over three-year period

30-year-old remanded at Isle of Man Prison

A Douglas man who sexually abused a child over a three-year period has been remanded at the Isle of Man Prison.

Andrew Vernon-Browne, of Brunswick Road, pleaded guilty to 10 offences during appearances at Douglas Courthouse.

The 30-year-old admitted five counts of indecent assault, two of gross indecency, one of buggery and two of having unlawful sexual intercourse with a child under the age of 16.

All offences were committed towards the same complainant and took place between 1 January 2013 and 31 December 2016.

A social enquiry report has been requested before he’s sentenced on 15 September with the prosecutor telling the court: “He’s facing a very lengthy custodial sentence.”

Deemster Graeme Cook refused bail and Vernon-Browne was remanded in custody until his sentencing hearing.
