Originally due to take place on Bonfire Night
Douglas Council's firework display will now mark the beginning of the festive season in the city centre.
The local authority says it's due to issues 'affecting the transportation' of fireworks to the Island in time for Bonfire Night.
It will now take place on Thursday, November 26 at 7pm which is the first evening of late-night Christmas shopping.
Parking along the promenade will be suspended for the evening but free parking will be available at both the Bottleneck and Shaw’s Brow car parks from 5pm.
It adds the Department of Infrastructure has also offered to make Chester Street Car Park free of charge as the closure is implemented.
Chair of the Regeneration and Community Committee Natalie Byron-Teare said: "We’re delighted to be able to confirm a new date for our annual fireworks display and look forward to bringing the community together for what promises to be a fantastic evening.
"While external issues meant the fireworks could not be brought to the Island in time for early November, we’re pleased to have secured an alternative date that offers something special for residents and visitors to enjoy.
"By aligning the event with the first Thursday of late-night shopping, we hope people will come into Douglas, enjoy the fireworks, explore the fantastic range of local shops and make the most of the city’s hospitality. It’s a great opportunity to support our local businesses, soak up the festive atmosphere and make a real evening of it.
"We’d like to thank everyone for their understanding and patience, as well as our partners for helping us make the new arrangements possible. We look forward to welcoming everyone to Douglas for a memorable start to the Christmas season."
