Road closures extended
Firefighters have confirmed a major blaze on South Quay in Douglas has been put out.
But roads will not be opening for some time yet - currently estimated to be 9pm.
The blaze, which broke out shortly after lunchtime, was contained within the premises of a flooring firm, Chardaid Developments, prompting concerns over asbestos and other toxic chemicals inside.
Plumes of thick, black smoke meant a cordon zone was enforced in the area from the Swing Bridge to Bridge Road, with the road closed and power supplies switched off.
Residents and businesses nearby were urged to keep windows and doors closed as a precaution.
The Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service has thanked the public for its assistance over the course of the afternoon.
