Douglas Council to trial permanent pedestrianisation of North Quay

Councillors believe scheme would support businesses in the area

Douglas Council is looking to trial permanently pedestrianising part of North Quay to encourage footfall and growth in the area.

Currently it's only closed off on weekends and bank holidays during the spring and summer; closures for specific events during the autumn and winter are also permitted.

The local authority says it will be carrying out consultations with residents, businesses and customers as well as looking at offering additional disabled parking.

There would also be an exception for loading and deliveries which would be carried out between 7am and 10am.
