Councillor hopes it would 'empower' communities to run their own events
A motion is being put forward to Douglas Council which could allow residents or organisations to submit community petitions.
Councillor Natalie Byron-Teare hopes that, if it's approved, it would allow communities to run their own events.
These could include street parties and fun days.
Councillor Byron-Teare says the local authority would also be able to offer operational and financial support.
The motion will be debated and voted on at the local authority's January meeting.
