Leader Devon Watson hopes to use brownfield spaces as part of scheme
Douglas Council is looking to expand its allotment scheme to allow people in flats and city centre homes to have access to green spaces.
Leader Devon Watson says his motion to the council would allow residents to utilise these areas to grow food, plants or create habitats for animals.
The local authority currently has a waitlist for ratepayers who want an allotment and he hopes this will encourage more people to join it.
Councillor Watson says if the idea is approved, a trial would take place first before it's expanded.
Local Democracy Reporter Emma Draper has been speaking to him:
The motion will be debated the council's January meeting.
