Douglas Coal Fund anticipating sustained increase to households seeking help

The charity is raising awareness of voucher scheme ahead of winter meetings

One of the oldest charities on the Isle of Man is set to help vulnerable residents again this winter.

The Douglas Coal Fund is anticipating more residents to be in need, after last year the charity saw a 50-percent increase to households seeking help.

The Douglas Coal Fund dates back to the 1840's, and was originally set up to hand out bags of coal to those in need.

Now it offers vouchers which can be used to pay utility bills, but is only available to the most vulnerable.
