DoI Minister want to restart conversations
Close to 100 people attended a public meeting in Ramsey last night to discuss the future of the Northern Civic Amenity Site.
Since 2017 representatives from seven parishes in the north of the Island were part of the Northern Civic Amenity Site Joint Committee that is Ramsey, Ballaugh, Lezayre, Garff, Andreas, Jurby and Bride.
However in April this year Bride commissioners said it would no longer be 'using, paying or working' with the site and was leaving the committee due to a disagreement on costs.
This has prompted the six remaining parishes to give notice to the Department of Infrastructure that it will not continue its service of the site from March next year.
Karl Brew, the chairman of the committee told Manx Radio while it would be a shame to lose the facility, the doors are still open for Bride Commissioners if they wish to restart talks:
He told Manx Radio the joint committee had been doing a great job running the facility and he would personally try to restart the conversation between Bride and the remaining six parishes:
