Residents targeted by nuisance number
A number of Island residents have been targeted by cold callers wishing to speak about abortion.
Police say they've been contacted by several 'concerned' individuals.
It's understood the calls are originating from a UK marketing company.
Cold calling - in person and over the phone - was outlawed in the Island in 2016.
If you receive a nuisance phone call, the advice is to remind them of that fact, and simply hang up.
Story Update:-
Police then clarified the advise via their social media outlet TweetbeatIOM - "We have had clarification and the UK company calling local residents with questions on the subject of abortion are allowed to do so as it’s a survey. It is not classed as cold calling. If asked they will understand if people don’t want to take part. Sorry for any confusion."
