MUA warning to pet owners
Manx Utilities has issued a plea to residents who walk their dogs near reservoirs.
The authority says it's received several reports of pets swimming in municipal waters, which feed into the Island's mains supply.
Aside from the contamination risk, cold temperatures and underwater pipes can also create a substantial hazard.
Allowing a dog to swim in a reservoir is an offence, punishable by fine and compensation liability.
