Minister Michelle Haywood says it has been speaking to other authorities first
The infrastructure minister says her department has no plans to take over the operation of the Northern Civic Amenity Site.
Ramsey Commissioners has been operating the site on behalf of the Department of Infrastructure following its potential closure in April earlier this year.
However, it has told the DoI it doesn't want to carry on running the site next year.
Michelle Haywood confirmed the department is paying £50,000 to fill the gap left in the site's finances.
Dr Haywood added that if none of the northern authorities want to take it on, the department will put the site out for tender to private contractors.
Local Democracy Reporter Emma Draper has been speaking to her:
Clerk of Ramsey Commissioners Derek Flint says: "We will continue to work with the Department of Infrastructure on the provision of waste services in the north."
