Popular rural event this afternoon
Alongside all the national celebrations, a rural celebration of the Manx national day takes place this afternoon, just up the road from St John's.
Cronk-y-Voddy Sports gets under way from 12.30pm, when the legendary marquee opens for refreshments.
The traditional sports - ranging from the egg and spoon event and cycle racing, to adults' wheelbarrow race and tug-of-war - start at 2pm.
All proceeds to to charity - and Jim Caine from organisers the Cronk y Voddy Ploughing Society says people will be delighted to hear the all-comers dog racing is back: (play audio)
Cronk-y-Voddy Sports is open to all, and all proceeds this year will go to Bridge the Gap.
