Diesel engines at Peel and Pulrose to support temporary interconnector disconnection

"You may see some smoke" says Manx Utilities

Manx Utilities says we may see some smoke rising from the stacks at Peel and Pulrose power stations over the next few days as the diesel engines are fired up.

The authority is finishing up some work on electrical systems at the Lord Street substation, meaning it will temporarily disconnect from the subsea interconnector from the UK network.

During this period, the MU's power system will run independently, using the diesel engines to support the main gas turbine generators.

As a result, there may be visible smoke emissions from the sites, it says.
