Handful of cases move from UK back to Island
Three mental health patients receiving treatment off-Island will be able to move back to the Island to be accommodated at a new £7.2 million mental health facility.
Manannan Court - which recently opened in the grounds of Noble's Hospital - is a purpose-built, acute inpatient unit with 26 bed spaces.
However, the majority of the 14 Island patients being cared for by specialist providers in the UK will continue to be treated off-Island.
Health and Social Care Minister Kate Beecroft told Tynwald today (16 May) that the facility is not equipped to manage mental health patients requiring a high level of security:
