Boot points to grants to diversify
Government is trying to "help the fishing industry"
That's the promise from the minister with responsibility for fisheries following recent publicity regarding the depressed state of affairs with limits placed on the catches of king and queen scallops.
There have also been reports of boats up for sale and recruitment issues.
Geoffrey Boot says there have been difficulties which is why grants have been offered to help boats adapt to fish for other species:
