
The Department of Health is shooting itself in the foot by not having a vocational training scheme for dental graduates to come back to after university. 
That's according Brian Grieveson, the postgraduate dental dean for Merseyside and lead dean for foundation training in England.
He says a scheme would solve the Island's dental staff shortage.
Vocational training is a compulsory one-year course that all dental students must complete after university and works in conjunction with a dental practice to provide "real world" experience.
Mr Grieveson says having a programme in place would allow the Island to nurture promising dentists:
