What's described as a 'delicate financial situation' has prompted King William's College to push ahead with what it calls two bold proposals.
At the same time, Principal Damian Henderson says there has been a reduction in student numbers in parts of the school.
Earlier this year, the school announced plans to move the Buchan School to the KWC site, stating this would secure the future of the academic institution.
