Distinctive tickets to help shoppers identify Manx
Manx meat will soon be easier for shoppers to identify.
Distinctive tickets of origin have been created by the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture for fresh meat counters of participating retailers.
DEFA asks them to sign a 'Butchers Charter' as a pledge to their customers.
The tickets will indicate Manx beef, pork, lamb and goat that's been reared and slaughtered on Island, and where and when it was purchased.
Manx National Farmers Union has supported the move - which, it says, will help people distinguish between local, and non-Manx meat.
