Follows concerns over number of applications still to be processed
The Department for Enterprise has confirmed the extension of two deadlines for existing Green Living Grant applicants.
The decision was made in October 2024 following a review into the number of applications still to be processed.
Initially the deadline for claiming approved grants was March 2025 but this has now been extended to 30 June.
The change means the deadline for completion of second audits following completion of works has also moved to 30 September.
A spokesperson for the DfE told Manx Radio another concern was 'the availability of approved contractors to be able to complete the works within the timeframe of the scheme closing'.
They said: "A decision was made to extend the final two deadlines by three months each to ensure that all those with approved grants could get their works completed, paid for and their grants claimed."
No new applications for audits or grants are being taken and the extension is only applicable to those existing grant applicants who were within the system as of 30 September 2024.
Instead the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture is to launch a new low carbon heating scheme for residents this year - you can register your interest for the new scheme HERE.
The updated GLGS closure timeline is set out below:
- 28 June 2024 – Closure of Manx Home Energy Audit applications
- 30 September 2024 – Closure of Green Living Grant applications
- 30 June 2025 – Deadline for claiming approved grants
- 30 September 2025 – Deadline for completion of second audits following completion of works
