Herring gulls found in Port Erin
Dead birds found near Port Erin beach are not believed to have died as a result of the avian influenza outbreak.
The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture was contacted by the local commissioners which had received reports of three dead herring gulls.
They'd been found between the Cosy Nook and the Shore Road public toilets.
The dead birds have been collected from the site and checked by the chief vet – due to their location, and condition, it is unlikely that their death is connected to the H5N1 virus.
The department is encouraging people to continue reporting sightings of any dead birds and has asked people not to touch them.
