Data breach 'reveals need' for external regulation

Tynwald must bring its policy on regulating social services in line with the UK.

So says local civil liberties campaigner Tristram Llewelyn-Jones - after it emerged that confidential data on two Island families has been removed from secured premises within government.

Members will be asked to approve a series of recommendations on children and families' services when the court sits next week - including one that UK body OFSTED be appointed to regularly inspect the provision here.

Mr Llewelyn-Jones says recent events have proved greater regulation is necessary.
