The park's general manager says it needs time to mitigate any risk to wildlife
Curraghs Wildlife Park has closed until further notice due to concerns over nearby avian influenza.
Yesterday the chief veterinary officer's team attended a separate site after reports of dead geese which they suspected could be the result of bird flu.
The first case of bird flu has now been confirmed.
Chief veterinary officer Amy Beckett said: "Due to this positive case we are asking all owners on Island to house their flocks and asking the public not to touch ill or dead birds as a precaution."
