Environmental campaigners lodge concerns
Promoting the Island as a future cruise holiday spot could generate income, but the environmental consequences cannot be ignored.
That's according to the local branch of Friends of the Earth, which has spoken out after proposals were lodged for a new £40 million terminal for large cruise liners.
The global industry is estimated to produce a billion tonnes of sewage every year, and there are further worries about litter, waste water, air pollution and the added impact of thousands of passengers coming ashore at once.
But the campaign group says so far, those issues have been largely ignored:
